Asa Grow

Being from Louisiana, Asa always was tempted with the great food the area brings. Weighing in at 240lbs and moving away from home for college in 2011, he found himself becoming more interested in making healthy decisions. At this point Asa found the recreational gym where his weight and motivation steadily fluctuated as the time passed.

Many years later, gaining the Covid 30, he was invited to “try out” a CrossFit workout with his coworker. That’s all that was needed. Since 2022, Asa has been actively growing his skills in the gym as he competes with himself to get better everyday. Obtaining his CrossFit Level 1 in 2023, he hopes to be able to help other athletes achieve their personal goals at CFMH.

Joel Monahan

Joel loved the community aspect of CrossFit so much, he became a coach as a way to give back to the same group that built him up.  Joel loves teaching technique in all things CrossFit and especially embraces the “weird” movements we don’t frequently see in standard programming.  He believes that any time we can build confidence and capacity in an athlete, we increase their capacity in life.

Jerry Everhard

Jerry was born a robust 11.5 lbs. The doctor warned his mother he would need to be careful managing his weight throughout his life. During childhood and college he struggled to keep a healthy weight until he found CrossFit in 2008 and had his life changed forever.

Jerry knows the science behind the methodology of Crossfit is sound. However, he found the social and community aspects worked hand in hand with the science to achieve sustained results. Where he used to dread going to a normal gym, wandering around aimlessly and working out by himself, he found himself looking forward to heading to CrossFit to socialize and compete with newfound friends while an experienced coach took the class step by step through a well thought out program. Being surrounded by a group of supportive individuals in a fun and competitive environment changed the way he looked at fitness.

Jerry began coaching in 2012 and loves sharing his passion for fitness with all of our athletes and will go above and beyond to help them achieve their fitness goals. While not crossfiting, he is the proud dad to 3 pups and also serves as Coach Deby’s arm candy when about town.

Megan Suggs

Megan has been doing Crossfit since 2014, loves nutrition, yoga, and running marathons. After her company hosted a 5K in 2014, Megan found herself being the slowest among her peers. The next week, she found herself in a Crossfit gym where she had no clue of any of the movements. After steady determination and grit, she worked her way up from the pvc dowel, to the barbell, to her first Crossfit competition and marathon, and losing 12% body fat. Megan wants to continue her fitness journey by supporting other gym members on their own and has received her Level 1 certificate to coach at CFMH.

Matt Johnson

CrossFit Level 1 Trainer | Focused on Strength, Precision, and Progress

Matt Johnson is a dedicated CrossFit Level 1 Trainer whose coaching style blends intensity, technical precision, and a strong emphasis on time under tension. With a passion for unlocking athletic potential through functional fitness, Matt brings a deep commitment to helping athletes become stronger, more capable, and more confident in and out of the gym.

Matt’s favorite movement—the snatch—reflects his attention to detail and love for technical lifts that challenge the body and mind. Whether coaching beginners or experienced athletes, he focuses on proper mechanics, progressive overload, and building resilience through consistent effort.

He’s known around the gym for his sharp eye for movement, tactical programming, and ability to push athletes without sacrificing form or safety. But don’t expect him to be thrilled when thrusters show up on the whiteboard—they’re his least favorite, though he never skips them.

Matt thrives on the energy of the CrossFit Memorial Houston community and is always ready to hype the class with his go-to track, “Losing It” by Fisher.

Favorite Lift: Snatch

Least Favorite Movement: Thrusters

Coaching Philosophy: Control the tempo. Master the fundamentals. Earn every rep.

Go-To Hype Song: “Losing It” – Fisher

Training Style: Time under tension, technical refinement, and building bulletproof basics
